Culture Shock
Culture shock refers to feelings of uncertainty, confusion, or anxiety that people may experience when moving to a new country or experiencing a new culture or surroundings.
It is a natural reaction to being in an unfamiliar environment and although the timing of each person’s adjustment process can be different, there are specific subsequent phases that most people go through before they adjust to their new environment: honeymoon phase (when people are thrilled to be in their new environment), frustration and negotiation (when differences between the old and new culture become apparent and may create anxiety, frustration and anger), adjustment (when the person grows accustomed to the new culture, knows what to expect in most situations and the host country no longer feels all that new), and adaptation (when the person is able to participate fully and comfortably in the host culture); see also https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acculturation.
