Difficulties Challenges

It is important to ask the child an open question:

What is most difficult for you in the moment?
What help do you need?

Try not to assume that you already know it, based on what you know from the parents or your previous experience with migrant students.

Your knowledge and experience are definitely valuable and will help you with your work, but to make your support most accurate, you need to learn about an individual perspective of the specific child.

Such an open attitude will help the child to feel seen and appreciated, which is extremely important in an unfamiliar context of a new school and country.
