National / ethnic / minority multicultural family

It is important to learn what is the family background of the child, several options are possible here.

The child may come from:

a) A family whose members come from a national minority, i.e. originally are not citizens of the host country, although they may have obtained the host country citizenship; for example Ukrainian children whose family have been living in a host country for some time already.

b) A family whose members come from and identify with an ethnic minority. It is important to remember that they may have had the citizenship of the country of residence for generations, but they mostly identify with their own ethnic group (for example Romani children/families in Poland).

c) A family whose members come from more than one cultural/ethnic/national/linguistic background, which are different from the dominant background in the host country. For example a family in which one parent is an immigrant to the current country of residence.

d) A family whose members come from the same cultural/ethnic/national/linguistic background as dominant background in the country. For example a family who emigrated for several years and now comes back to the country of origin.
