Current Situation

What is the family social and economic status, both prior to and after migration?

It is important to focus on possible differences between these two, since the status may easily drop in the new country.

For instance, a family with high socio-economic status in the country of origin may not be able to achieve it in a new country because the parents’ professional qualifications are not recognised or there is a language barrier preventing them from finding well-paid employment.

On the other hand, if the parents of the child are here only temporarily on a contract in a large company, their status can be higher compared to the country of origin.
