The Current Situation in the Country of Origin

The current situation in the country of origin will probably influence the child and family to a great extent, especially if the situation is difficult (war, persecutions, natural disasters, other types of crisis) and if other members of family and friends remained in the country.

In such cases the minimal support will include showing empathy towards a child’s concerns, allowing her/him to express them and encouraging her/him to think about any possible actions, e.g. ways to support the relatives who remained in the country of origin.
