Only one vs. many cultures symbols

How do the classrooms and corridors look like?

What types of national and cultural symbols (flags, maps, photographs, etc.) are displayed around?

If only the symbols related to the dominant culture are present, the space conveys an implicit message that everyone in the school community should adapt to the dominant culture and that the highest value at school is uniformity.

In contrast, if symbols resenting all cultures that are present at school are on display, it shows (most importantly, to the students, but also to the broader community) that every student is welcome with her/his unique identity and background, and promotes the values of diversity and learning about each other.
